Hey guys

Over the last week I have pretty much nailed down my PC spec. The only issue I have now is the PSU.

The spec I am going for is as follows:

AMD Athlon X2 4400+
Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro
DFI LanParty UT NF4 Ultra-D PCI-E Mobo
G.Skill 2GB DDR ZX PC3200 [2x1GB]
Hitachi Deskstar 250GB SATA-II
Asus ATI Radeon X1900XT 512MB
Creative Labs X-Fi Platinum
Pioneer DVR-111DBK
Sony DVD-ROM from my current comp

All this is going into a CoolerMaster Stacker 810 which has several 120mm fans

The proposes PSU for this is an Antec TruPower 430W jobby I am gettin el cheapo from a mate. Having used the eXtreme OuterVision PSU calculator it says I need around 550W.

Do I trust the calculator, or do I spend a bit more money on a 550W or 600W PSU? Any recommendations? It doesn't necessarily have to be quiet but I wouldn't want my PC to sound like a Airbus A380 taking off :p

i would be looking at 530W minimum, spend another £60/70 for a good psu as your spending a fair wadge on your new kit why use an old psu??

Tagan 530W is great value and super solid rails. also seasonic are excellent.

Yeah, you raise a very good point there. Why get miserly on probably the most important part of the PC when I have already earmarked about 1300 quids worth of stuff lol.

I am looking to going CrossFire at some point in the next year or so, so was wondering if a 600W PSU would be sufficient?

Right, I have gone for the 600W Seasonic :)

Bit of a n00b question now... When it says SLi complient... is that also true for CrossFire or should I be looking for a CrossFire PSU?

SiriusB

SLI compliant just means two PCIE graphics card power outputs, it also covers Crossfire because ATI have the same power connectors.
