My brother wants to upgrade his graphics card to an ATI 4870 1GB and I am not sure if this PSU will be enough.

He has 600watt Enermax Noisetaker. He has had it for about 2 years now and is quite an heavy user.

He has:
Q6600 G0 running @3.6GHz with 1.4 voltage.
4 sticks of 1gb Corsair 800MHz RAM.
Raptor 150gb
640gb WD Caviar
DVD Writer.
5 x 120mm fans
1 x 200mm fan
1 x 220mm fan

will that PSU easily handle a ATI 4870 1GB? Remember, he has had it for 2 years+ so its probably not as efficant as before.

Any ideas?

Does anyone know what exactly happens to an PSU over time? I mean does it lose its wattage capacity? If so how much exactly for someone who uses PC at least 8 hours a day?

My system below is only pulling around 250w-300w max according to my power meter so his psu is more than enough to power that and still got some reserve left.If he is really worried that his psu is more than 2 + yrs. then he could have it recap (not recommended if it still under warranty though).

1 optical

Just wondering, where did you get your power meter from? How much. Also not sure what is a recap. Thanks.

Hi, i dont know if i can post the link for the power meter here but you can google it easily.I want to send you a pm but cant seem to find any contact info on your profile. As for a recap try googling badcaps.

Edit: You can get a digital power meter as cheap as £9.99.

Yeah, I am guessing it tells you their load figures, or what manufacturers state.
