I'm planning on building a file server with the following specs:

AMD 64 skt 939 3000+
3ware 9650SE PCI-E x4 Raid Controller
7x WD 500GB RE2 SATA HDD's
AsRock 939NF6G-VSTA mobo
D-Link DGE-528T PCI Gigabit Ethernet Adaptor
2x256mb Corsair DDR-400 RAM

This is just gonna be used on a local network between 2-3 other PCs. The CPU, RAM, and network card are spare parts I have laying around at home, otherwise I wouldnt be looking at building another skt939 system. And since this is a hardware raid setup, i figure CPU performance isnt important.

I've been looking up the power specs on some of these products to work out what PSU size I need:
Each HD uses up to about 12w max
The raid controller is rated at a max of 18w
The CPU im guessing uses something in the region of 50-70w
Graphics/sound will be onboard the mobo

That comes to 172w, but still excludes the mobo, ram, network card, and fans

So anyway, I was thinking a PSU like the Antec EarthWatts 380W would be enough. So my questions are...

a. Do you think that PSU is powerful enough for this setup?
b. I notice the Antec EarthWatts PSUs have 4 SATA power connectors. As stabilty is important in this setup is there any disadvantage of using molex -> sata power adaptors for the other 3 drives?

Im using the Antec Earthwatts 380W on my server. Its a Dual Xeon 2Ghz with 2gb ram. Mine has 4 hard drives. It seems to cope perfectly well. Im not using any sort of raid. It uses an 8mb graphics card. I would expect it to be fine. Its not going to be fully loaded any of the time tbh, and so will draw minimal power.
