Corsair Builder Series CX 600W V2 '80 Plus' Power Supply.

is this PSU ok for GTX 580 or the 7950 OC 4.6.... i5 2500k Asrock etc.

It's a decent PSU, but if you are looking for a PSU for such a high end system I would personally go with a unit that is a bit more powerful, more efficient, higher quality construction, long warranty cover and has modular cables.

For example this £82 XFX 650W supply has modular cables, a seasonic design (so nice quality) and a five year warranty (the corsair you mention is only covered for three years).

Also, the Antec Truepower New 650W is another nice modular, seasonic-made PSU that is worth considering.

i've seen a modular 650 by OCZ, which looks slightly better, because i dont want loads of spare cables too

OCZ-ZT650W-UK - 5 year warranty

How are Antec and XFX better quality than Corsair?

Well it really depends on the individual PSUs you are comparing, for example the TX, HX and AX series Corsair PSUs are really nice quality units and match or beat comparable Antec or XFX units.

However, when specifically looking at the Corsair CX Builder series, these units are not of the same build quality as the higher end corsair ones - so can't be treated with the same reverence. As a result of this lower quality they are beaten by the seasonic-made Antec and XFX units I mentioned (though they are more expensive).
