Is this RAM Quad Channel and is it worth it?

Hi ya,

Is the following the quad channel RAM I've heard about? (I just a little confused that it says Dual Channel in the header)

And more inportantly is the new 4GB Quad Channel worth the expense over 2 sets of 2x1GB ?

There is no such thing as Quad Channel.

Memory normally runs single channel which is 64bit, but since NF2 mobos it can be run in 128bit mode which is dual channel, now some mobos let you run 4 sticks in dual channel which is 2 sticks running together in 128 bit mode with the the other 2 sticks running together in another 128bit mode, the 4 are not running together in any mode but are obv adding up top 4GB of ram used.

Thats why some mobos have 2 black ram slots and 2 coloured ram slots.

Oh right, many thanks helmutcheese. I'm getting a Gigabyte GA_P35_DQ6 mobo and i want 4 gig of 1066mhz RAM for gaming on it and saw this press release http://www.geilusa.com/news/show/id/13.

Are these still worth it or would you recoomend some other RAM for gaming?

I personally think 2 stick is better as 4 sticks give some mobos issues, but not all, the 2x 2GB kits (4GB total) are too new and I returned mines as it didint clock well, Im back to 2x 1GB (2GB total) and that enough for hardcore gaming in XP 32 and 64, for Vista you would need that 4GB to hardcore game though ideally, by time Vista is usable for me I will buy a newer 4GB ram, kit made up of 2 sticks.
