Hi all the is my first post so please be gentle

i have overclocked my cpu from 2.7 to 2.9 (Amd 64x2 5200) and i was wondering if this is normal that it does this screen shots below

Idel Now its saying its 1.1ghz :confused:

At idle the multiplier is reduced to save energy.

As soon as you stress the CPU it bumps back up again.

Perfectly normal.

Its normal. AMD cool n quiet I think its called.

When not under full load, It'll drop the multiplier to save energy and also reduce heat.

First of all, welcome to the forums

I don't know for sure about AMD, but intel CPU's can reduce their speed to save energy when they're idle, so it'll probably be the same for your CPU

If you don't like it, you can disable it in the bios somewhere

you will need to disable cool and quiet to get higher clocks.
