Hi Guys

Went live with TitanADSL yesterday, i have a Draytek 120 connected to an Airport Extreme base station..

I know there is a profile stage for 10 day but whenever I do I speed test I get 2meg, but looking at the stats below is that right?

Speed check is via the wifi but I can't see that being and issue as I'm only a few feet from the AE?

Any idea's?

Just sounds like BT's line management has given you a low profile(as opposed to sync speed). As suggested by fluff a BT speedtest should give you profile info. .

Yep that looks like you have a low ip profile. Thats the bit which really dictates how fast your connection is.
Make sure you leave your router on overnight etc and it should change by itself over the next few days. If not get in touch with Titan as you may have a stuck profile.
Looking at your connection rate you should get the full 7150 kbps profile - thats the top one for an ADSL Max 8meg line. :)

If you only switched yesterday you will be on 2meg. That's pretty much the standard starting point. It'll train up over the next day or two, and if you don't turn the router off for a week after that should stay at the top profile. It is quite important if you want the best possible speed not to turn the router off or disconnect it for the 10 day training period.

Oh don't worry I have no plans to turn it off!

Many thanks

Well I spoke to titan and they suggested the plugging into the test socket however I don't have one as the box is so old, need to find the one I had before but since taking the cover off and on I did another test and the results are below so something has changed, hopefully it profiles and goes higher over the next week?

Which goes where?

Guys I have a combined adsl filter and phone master socket, trouble is I'm not sure what to plug into which? I only have two cables as shown in the old socket below

Where do I plug them into this new one below?

Any advice would be great! Thanks

Assuming that the two cables shown are the drop cable where the line enters the house, and keeping them the same way they are currently set up, you'd plug the Orange one into 'A' and the Black/Blue one into 'B'.

If you have a multimeter you can measure the voltage between ground and the cable you want to connect to 'B', It should read -50V. Most UK equipment will work if it's the other way around though, so it's not a big deal. I only mention it because usually the Orange one is supposed to connect to B but it depends on how it's been wired at the other end.

I'll also notethat if we are indeed talking about the drop cable and master socket, that's all BT's property and you aren't allowed to modify it, so it's at your own risk. If you do ever need to call them out just put things back how they were before the engineer arrives and get him to upgrade your old style master socket to an NTE5 (should be free).

That said I've always tidied up my master sockets because as a rule BT engineers leave them in a hell of a state. The chances they'll actually notice anything untoward is small. I've made pretty big changes and they've just ignored it :) Including no-standard parts like that face-plate.

Put a call into support, they came out this morning and put a new master socket in, had a cuppa and left :)

All sorted now

Sweet. What's the stats looking like now? Be a nice benchmark to see what difference a clean new socket can make :)

Didn't get a chance to check as I only popped out fo work to let him in and out then off again..

Will check later ;)

To be honest I may dump the Draytel 120 and Airport Extreme in favor of a Billion 7800n, web pages are so slow to load with my DG843GT they used to pop up
instantly and that was with the router upstairs, now this kit is in the same room and things seem slow :(

Sure I should be getting 7.1meg down now but I don't seem to be?

Might try a Draytek 2820 and see if that helps.. Seem to be stuck on 6500 :(

Best thing to do is to just leave the router switched for at least 72 hours without rebooting and this will increase your profile.

It's a pain in the bum BT profiling system.

Its been on and connected since Monday when BT came out to change the master socket? Is that not long enough?
