Hey guys i ordered an XFX 8800GTX should get it in the week, im just wondering whether its safe to use it on my current PSU, as its an Alpine 750 Watt but its worth like £25 and only has one PCIE Cable i can get the molex to pcie adapter but im having doubts as a lot of people on here have said the psu is very very baddd!

my pc atm is:

Intel E8400 3.00GHZ
4 GIG xms2 800Mhz ram
250 GIG HDD
Gigabyte P35-S3G Mobo

i will be getting this to replace the dreaded psu:

Here is a review and here is another.

The XFX is an all-round solid PSU made by Seasonic.

May I ask how much the 8800GTX will cost you?

yeah ive seen a lot of positive reviews for the xfx psu, you think its better of getting the 750watt becuase ill probly upgrade in the future.

and its cost me £50 :)

£50 for a 8800GTX, assuming you don't get any warranty (as these cards are very old) then this isn't a great deal. You can get much faster GTX 260 or HD 4870 cards for a similar price second hand - these cards are one generation newer and much faster than a 8800GTX.

well ive bought it now.. if any thing is wrong i will get my money back. but my question is... should i wait to get the new psu or use the cheap one with the card?

I wouldn't suggest risking it. If you buy a new PSU from OCUK now then it should be with you on Tuesday. Surely not too long to wait.

yeah i would order it today but i just got paid by my dad in cash so ill go to the bank tomoro then order them and hopefully get it on wednesday :)
