Is this safe? 12v ac to a 9v device

i once plugged a light into the wrong power sorce the result was me goignto toilet
to come back to a burning smell lucky no damage was done to the pc but the controll thing was all burnt out :D.

I still wouldnt, you can sometimes get certain things running on lower vaults, but feeding too many is running the risk of overheating and going pop.

I almost killed a monitor by using an incorrect power adaptor, I think it was off an old modem or something, I turned it on an it made a realy bad noise, (cant remember what the noise was, but it was like a 'doh, i think i just broke it' type noise) so pulled the plug straight away, and lukily I didnt kill it...

Now I always use the right rated power adaptors!

I doubt it will work (especially if it's expecting a 9V DC input), and you risk frying the hub. Even if it did work at first, the hub is likely to overheat pretty quick.

I'd recommend you get the right spec power adapter.

LOL @ this thread! OP, you ask if you should do it, and everyone says, "No!". So you go do it anyway! Why did you bother asking us?

Anyway, give it a sniff test, if it starts smelling bad turn it off!!!

If you get smoke, take a pic and post it!!!
