Is this setup good enough for battlefield 3?

I'm looking to play battlefield 3 at 1400x900 at medium when it comes out later in the year but was wondering whether this setup would be good enough for around 40-60fps.

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3.2GHz Black Edition (would overclock if necessary)
Sapphire 512mb HD5670
4gb DDR3 ram 1333

Could anyone also recommend a motherboard that would be good for overclocking this cpu for around £60-75.

I appreciate you only game at 1400x900 but me personally I would still lean towards a video card with a bit more memory, something like a 460gtx 768mb would be nice.

It's a close call but you could do with a slighly better card, even at that res. It's all opinion though until the game is out.

Just re-read, yup better card if your looking for 40-50 fps at medium. I think your card will run it at low-med.

Erm, I would doubt that the graphics card would cope!

Might be worth dropping down to an Athlon II.

Whats the overall budget?

I third (?) that proposal. I have a gtx 460 768mb and it runs games pretty well, bfbc2 on all high settings with some AA, should manage battlefield 3 reasonably well :)

£310 will get you this, and it can be overclocked to around 3.7GHz (3.8 if lucky :p) - obviously not on stock cooling!

Processor and memory should be fine.

Can't really say until the game is out if the graphics card but if it can cope with bad company at those settings you may be lucky.

Foxconn 790gx for £55 would be a good shout but its out of stock at the mo. I would be temped to hang off a month or two and wait on the the bulldozer / 9 series motherboards to come out.

The budget is around £220 I'm afraid so the Hd5670 will have to stay. I'd live with 30fps.

On another note how much of a difference would this bring over a x2 5000+?

This might come in use.

I would return september October time. If you can build up your post count you will be able to get free shipping!! So stick around but repeat question in september in all honesty.

Sorry. If you return later in the year we will gladly help. Components move too fast in prices and upgrades to really spec more than 2-3 months ahead really.

And to be honest, even with their recommended system configuration, you always want to go a bit better if you can.
