Will this spec worth together alright

Intel D975XBX2 motherboard
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6700
4Gb Corsair DDR2 8500
Geforce 8800 OC2

Will this motherboard, CPU and memory all work together?

I know that the Core 2 6600 can be overclocked and is cheaper but I don't know the first thing about overclocking. Also I have no intrest in things such has watercooling.

Go for a different motherboard.

One of the P35 boards. Abit IP-35 Pro is what im using at the moment. Great board.

Wil be better when you upgrade.

You dont need to water cool to overclock.

Also I would go for a P35 as Azza recommended. I'm going to get the Asus P5K Deluxe WiFi Intel P35 with my system.

Everything is compatible, however PC8500 is overkill if you aren't going to overclock. I'd suggest either PC5300 or PC6400 to save a bit of cash, either would do and still allow a bit of overclocking.

Overclocking really is very simple nowadays and there are plenty of guides/advice kicking around (in the Overclocking sub-forum amongst others).

Perhaps change the Q6700 TO Q6600 and save some money, you can put a small overclock upto Q6700 speeds.
