Hi Guys,
Is this spec ok for a decent server, mainly being used for file sharing and an ftp server. Will everything work together and is the PSU suitable to that case as it needs to have long cables?

i will change to a quad core then mate, great. The guy im building this for wants it to be the best to last him for a good few years.

So will it all work together then???

It is all compatible. I'd query the X48 based motherboard though, the main benefits of it are in the dual PCI-E 16x slots for Crossfire (not important here) and PCI-E 2.0 compliance (again not massively important unless it might be upgraded with a good graphics card later), dual gigabit LAN and 1600mhz FSB support might be more important though I suppose.

I'm afraid I don't know about the cable length but you can get extensions if necessary.
