Is this still a good spec?

Hi just wondering where the below stands in current hardware terms and if its any good.

i7 920 @ 2.67
2TB in Raid HDD & 128 GB SSD
12GB DDR3
GTX 285

It is water cooled and is an Alienware Aurora desktop.

Have a chance to buy one but I thinks its 2-3 years old, now I know this is old in hardware terms but should it still be a decent system.

The CPU/ram/drives can all still do a job, especially if the CPU is overclocked to ~4.0ghZ.

The GPU however has had its day, it's so old now nvidia don't even support it anymore so you will have no up to date drivers and it's dx 10 so some newer games might not play at all.

How much are they asking for?

All seems good just push the CPU a little more and invest in a new gpu. Something like 760 or 770.

Was hoping not to buy any new parts, but if the GPU has had its day im not sure now, comes with a Razor gaming mouse, logitech wireless gaming keyboard, 5.1 surround sound and 2 x Dell 24' Monitors. Around £450 I think. All very good condition.

Would it be best spending £450 elsewhere?

£450 sounds decent for the spec, especially considering the Alienware premium. Perhaps try and get them down to £400, then sell the GPU for £40~ and buy a used GTX670 or something for £130.

Yeah that seems ok still mate, get yourself a 670 as said above, I still use a 670 with a 2600k @ 5ghz, and have no intention of upgrading them, no benefits.
