I was reading 95thrifles' thread and came across the £400 build he configured:

Is this still the best configuration for £400 in terms of performance and gaming power?

I could probably stretch to £450 if there is a better configuration available. This will be my first build so please be kind. :p

4GB DDR3 - £80
4770/4670/5670/4850/GT 240/GTS 250 - £70
Phenom II X2 555 BE - £80
Asus M4A77 - £55
BeQuiet 530W PSU - £45
DVD Writer - £15
500GB Samsung F3 - £35
xClio Propeller - £25
Coolermaster TX3 - £15

Other than that looks good ;)

i did this, got ddr3 etc ocuk value 4850, but you can change to a 5670 if you want like. or buy parts second hand and you can have a much better system.

Thank you very much for the replies guys. I'm very tempted to purchase the £460.72 build that you have posted.

I have another question. Is that all I will require to build a working PC? Or will I need to buy screws and other little necessities?

Many thanks! :D

Usually the case comes with most of the stuff needed to install everything.

it just wouldnt work if you had to buy an os, youd need to up your budget to £550 or so, you want to be able to play the latest games and still be a little fture proof.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but would this not be better:
