Is this Temp ok?

I have a QX6700 quad core & have just upgraded my hsf to the Thermalight extreme 120 & am getting an idle temp of about 54 degrees which is an improvement compared the the Artic Freezer Pro 7 I was using.

Also, the Thermalight 120 Extreme has spring loaded screws which need a fair amount of pressure to lock down. However, once locked down you then begin to tighten each screw but when they get to the point where you can no longer tighten them there is still a bit of space between the bracket feet & the motherboard. The hsf seems securely in place though but I can still twist it from left to right slightly.

Is this normal?

For a B3 stepping i think thats pretty ok.

yes , there has been a little movement on all the TRUE that I have used, some people use a washer or similar to ensure that its secured extra tight

If I want to overclock I think I would best best changing the CPU. What u think?

a nice low VID Q6600 G0 would get you better clocks I would imagine, or wait for the Q9550 to come down in price Q3
