Hi Guys,

Saw this on Amazon and am very close to pulling the trigger, however I can't help feeling that there might be something out there that kills it. Budget of £950 but can go a tiny bit over

Must haves:
17"
SSD and HDD
i7 6700

Would like:
DDR4
GTX 960

http://www.amazon.co.uk/MSI-17-3-In...&qid=1453726757&sr=1-5&keywords=gaming+laptop

ALSO: The description says it's DDR4 but apparantly it's actually DDR3, that's what's stopping me from taking the plunge.

Thanks guys

Skylake, so it is DDR4, maybe the 950M is DDR3.

Don't expect much from the graphics card though 960M is pretty much a minimum for 1080p gaming.

Thanks ever so much for the replies guys. It's a present for my girlfriend so can't be B grade I'm afraid as I'd need the warranty.

Also I thought the difference btween the 950M and the 960M was marginal.

She'll mostly be photo editing and playing Indie games, but I would like the 960 tbh.

You're going to get in trouble for linking to the rainforest on here.

You can get 970m for a fraction more at a clevo reseller...

There's a MEDION ERAZER X7835 available in budget with a 980M. It's not Skylake based, but that's largely irrelevant for gaming. The 980M will make much more difference.

It's based on an old MSi chassis. I had one for a week before it went back. It runs very hot and loud as it uses a single fan it also throttles badly when gaming. Horrid TN screen, No backlit keyboard. The power brick on mine got insanely hot as well it felt very cheap.....

Great feedback about the cheap feeling laptops - I'd looked at many other brands that I'd never heard off but got the feeling/worry that the build quality wasn't great.

I've looked at all the links you've posted and would like to thank you all for your assistance.

I've shown a few more options to her and will let you know what she picks in the end.

Cheers, LordFish
