Is this the cause of ping issues in UT3?

Hi.

Just wondering, when I play UT3 my ping is high sometimes, sometimes it is ok but am always skipping all over the joint, wonder if it is my router configuration being bad for games?

Basically, the PC downstairs is connected to a router and that has an Internet cable connected, the PC upstairs is connected to another router, and they are both configured so the downstairs router sends the Internet upstairs into the router and then into my PC.

Is the use of 2 routers like this causing performance issues? Or should everything be fine really?

Are you talking about two routers connected by a cable, or is the upstairs router acting as a wireless client? You need to elaborate on that section a little

use winmtr
ping the game server and trace where the problem is.

They are wireless routers, both the same, netgear DG834GV, sending via wireless.

Any idea why with this config the Internet on the PC downstairs is running so slow loading web pages?

sounds like the issue is the downstairs router or the line not the link between. If it were the link then only the upstairs one would be slow.

Run a speedtest from the downstairs PC and a tracert to google.co.uk
