Ok, having been asked im going to write a basics and slight advanced tutorial on photoshoping tools, menus, and filters.
The im going to give a basics guide on adjustments that can be done.

Problem being is, when you stare at your own work for ages, you lose a certain outside perspective.
Tell me, have i gone to far in the adjustment of this girls face.

Eyes and eyebrows are OTT imo, skin could do with a little more work to lose the blotchiness but i think the eyes are over-powering the whole image.

I know what you mean about been in edit can make you loose your own perspective.. There is a huge improvement factor to take onboard here and it could be quite disturbing for a model to see visually see these side by side.. Clearly the right is a vast improvement. I wouldnt say its waay over the top but I will say that you have fixed a lot.

Edit:
Yes the make up around the eyes is quite overdone looking at it twice.

I always get a second perspective as i get lost in what i wanted to achieve, i knew something was wrong.
Improved.

Much better.

Now that i like a lot more, you still need to sort out the skin though as it seems a little blotchy (if you want to that is).

Good work though :)

When models are posing for photos like that, do they know they are being used as an example of how ugly people can be made to look nicer?

Thanks, ignore the earing i cant be bothered to fix that, the experiment was for the face, and its shape.
Im going to leave the skin and teeth the way they are, as i think they look more natural, to change either of them anymore cause the same problem as with the eyes, its starts to lose a natural perspective.

probably not, i just googled girls face, she looked like a good candidate to show the effects. If i were to do this to an actual model, it would be a lot easier.

Now to write the tutorial.

Yer the second one is much better, I disagree with the comments about the mouth and teeth though, I think they should stay the way you have got them in the second picture.

Looking forward to the guide!

The jawline looks quite masculine to me. Coupled with the high hairline it gives an odd look, like a bloke wearing make-up

Yeah, ok silly comments aside. Im not responsible for how she was born, let concentrate more on whether its an improvement. I cant complete turn her into someone else.
The idea is to follow a set amount of rules that can be applied to most photos to aid in making the skin more tonal, and less blemishs, then if you follow the guide further it goes into how to change face shape, and if you want majorly you could indeed change the jaw line. Its no photoshop action, all the thing ive had to do have been subjective, and u have to use a slight hand and practically paint in the face.

You've done a great job on the second one there. The lips are a major improvement for me. It might just be me, but the right side of her face seems a bit soft - fading into the background - compared to the original.

I think the cheeks are a teeeny bit blotchy and that might be good to look at, when it comes to toning skin down.

The eyes/eyebrows look much much better now, although she'd be better if she hadn't plucked them half to death in the first place.

Looking forward to the tutorial!

Good edit fo' sho' BUT I hope you don't show the edit to the girl in question, it might be a self esteem crusher... photoshop can really toy with someone's self confidence when you start to edit all the features you think could be improved.

When ever I edit someone's photo I ask them what they want done to it first and stick to that.

Thats my 2p. Just thought I'd throw it in there :p

No problem. Im never going to show her, cause i have no idea who the hell she is. Any i hope she doesnt this wasnt intended to her, it was just to help PS learners. It could have been any other girl.
Googled picture. I know there are probably legal or plagerism thing to consider, but im sure she live in the middle of america and will never see it.
If its problem it can be removed instantly

I think that just the jpeg compression to turn such a large picture into a 400pixel wide one. It seems to mess up the shade of her skin. I cant be btohered to go mental on it, its shows the basic principles perfectly.

Problem is that now you've said that your adminting it publicly that you know its not yours to use. Nice work although couple of questions...

Why it the ps'ed one got a bendy ear ring and why are the eye brows so weird looking?
