So my question is simple really is this test

http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/40...r_iii_pe_oc_ed_video_card_review/index17.html

actually true or not i cant figure this out, i am supposed to be getting the MSI ATI Radeon HD 6950 OC Twin FrozR III Power Edition tomorrow and one of the main facters behind this is because i thought it would not be as power hungry as the gtx 480 especially the gtx 480 soc but acording to this it uses more than the gtx 480 soc and when i saw this test i was absolutely gob smacked
I might now get a soc? (and send it back a few times to get what i want :D )

I think the highlighted 6950 is crossfire, otherwise they must be doing something funny because its drawing more power then the HIS 6950 CF setup 5 places further down the list

They seem to have overclocked it but not stated what voltage it is at, perhaps they whacked it up full and the inefficiency at such levels is showing. They also failed to show results for the default.

I know i cant get my head around if its true or not other numbers dont seam that far of though alittle higher than what ive been used to seeing but im supposed to be getting this card tomorrow (with the thought of power consumption and the rest.. in mind) however having avoided getting a gtx 480 soc as we all know is a pure guzzler when it come's to power i was not expecting to see this from the tf 3 i knew this card would drink more than ref 6950's that was obvious but man ive now got issues after seeing this.
I guess deep down that's why its really called power edition

That is mental. I also suspect they're running with much increased voltage, and one of the reasons the GTX480 is lower, is because it'll be using stock, or close to stock, voltages. I seem to remember reading a review somewhere or other of a GPU power test, where overclocked GPUs were pulling something like twice their rated power. Might be imagining things though, I'm tired.
