Someone was telling me earlier today that there is a new iMac coming out end of this year which will have a new Spec Bump the i7 or what ever it is..

Is it really true we will at least see a new iMac within 2 month?

It has long been rumoured that new iMac out Jan/feb next year.

Don't expect an i7 though as iMac uses mobile components, although there are some low power quad cores coming out at that time but will be Core2Quads not i7.

99% sure an iMac will be unveiled at MacWorld San Fransisco (Jan 5th)
100% sure that it will NOT use a core i7 CPU.

Hope that clears it up :)

I wonder if the Mac Pro will get an update also?

Not likely. Although they are overdue.

"Nehalem" server CPUs aren't due until February-March, so it might even be a silent upgrade after MWSF, or at the latest WWDC.

IMO: With the iMac, Mac Mini, iPhone, and Snow Leopard stuff, they'd be pushed to squeeze in the 'Pro update. Also, it just isn't the sort of event to announce such a machine. MWSF = consumer. WWDC = developer.

The Mac Pro is due an jump although there's talk that Intel have delayed the deployment of the chips. This may make that Apple delay too - I doubt that they'll run with near-obsolete FB-DIMM as Intel have declared that they'll switch to DDR3 which apple may take (being forefront technology).

+ Apple already use DDR3 in the new notebooks.

Gotcha, cheers :) - even tho the Mac Pro's are a little out of my price range, I like to keep an eye on them... If I ever win the lottery, I'll know what to get! :D

I guess DDR3 makes sense, maybe they'll go for dual i7 chips which should be rather fast.

The Mac Pro will always be two or more CPUs so they can get more cores in - it's meant to be a powerful workstation after all!

All Mac models that will be available for sale when snow leopard is released will have Nvidia architecture. So everything will be getitng an update before then, sans the notebooks obviously.

Give nVidia have teamed up with MS for their Zune-Phone I think that Apple are probably quite peeved - especially with the lack of quality of the nVidia chipsets. Hence I think overall you'll see a shift to Intel.

I don't think Apple are going to take that personally are they?

Well it still stands that all Macs will be bumped before snow leopard so that they all take advantage of snow leopard's open cl / grand central.
