Hi guys

Took some pictures my loop and the tubing looks abit clouded.

Also i want to know the best way to drain my loop as i didn't plan ahead and didn't insert a drain port. Loop is about 7 months old. Temps are fine.

Anyway hear are some pics :

holy incredibly dusty case batman

might it just be dust on the outside of the tubes!?

failing that, what fluid are you using? could just be past it's sell by date and need replacing, once you drain the loop you'll be able to see better if the tubes are still cloudy or not

what reservoir are you using? least messy way to drain your loop will be to try to move the res as far away from other components as you can, open the fill port and use that as a drain port, probably involving turning your PC on it's side and upside down and all sorts to get all the water out

Which way are your rad fans blowing? I am guess up and out. Layer of fuff in rad will be impressive, take a pic of it.

Apparently xspc is one of the best. I'm not sure why yours has discoloured like that.

Btw when you replace tubing I would suggest you replace the coolant with a premix like mayhems x1. They do clear if you prefer.

Whats wrong with deionised water? Been wary of these premix fluids as ive read they can damage cpu/gpu blocks.

i always used dionised water over the last ten years of cooling and tbh nothing wrong at all just started adding colored aditives to it currently mahems pastel blue,

as per the tubing thread tho im just swapping oout masterkleer tubing for xspc due to platiciser/ leaching

I've read quite a bit that kill coils don't actually work, you could try a biocide next time (basically if the kill coil is still in one piece then the silver isn't in the water so it's not killing anything other than what comes directly in to contact with the coil)

you can also try cleaning the tubing... but then tubing isn't exactly expensive so maybe it's not worth the effort

^I'm sure I've read that too somewhere.

Deionized/distilled just seems like so much hassle to me.. silver coil per each 500ml, biocide (keep your PH level in check!), corrosion inhibiter (just in case)..

Much easier to just fill up with a good premix.

i just ordered nine metres of xspc clear and it was something like under £3 a metre so its not expensive but even so dont want the new stuff to discolor

I am trying to work out why you are so concerned that the tubing is clouding when you have more dust in there than the contents of a hoover. !!

As for premix being easier than using distilled or deionised, what a load of bunk.

If you think this is what is needed in a mix, then continue as you are, buy premix.

But, you are talking to people watercooling their pc, we (or at least I) like tinkering and a little bit of trial error, deionised + a silver coil works fine, end of.

Buying pre mix is essentially snake oil, but if you are happy to buy it, I am glad that there is someone out there selling you a product that you believe does something extra special other than (admittedly) looking quite cool.

Ah a scare story from someone trying to sell you expensive premix fluids.

Edit: In fact it seems it's just a copy and paste of EK's stuff about their nickel products failing.

I have always used a pre-mix and never had a problem so I don't have any personal experiences with silver but I don't think they (premixes) are expensive considering the cost of distilled water + kill coil/ biocide anti corrisive additives.

For example. Nanoxia speedflow retails at 3.99 euro for a litre, already has anti corrosive/anti algae and can last for years without changes. This is cheaper than a kill coil alone.

Of course some premixes are more expensive but when your spending several hundred pounds on watercooling parts it's irrelevant.
