is this upgrade worth doing?

is it worth upgrading from a 8800gts 640mb to an ati 4850 512mb for gaming at 1680x1050?

would it be a big step up or just slightly quicker?

i changed and found it to be a lot better.

had the same card as you as well.

was a good card a while ago but im glad i upgraded.

Made the same change, i found it to be a nice upgrade. Not the best example, but for me i was previously playing wow at 1680x1050 with mid settings with the 8800 - with the 4850 i have been able to crank all settings to high (max AA/AF) and I still get more FPS than before.

Also the 8800 gts 640mb can be sold for £50 ish.

It depends what you are playing, but the 4850 is a decent step up especially if you like to play with a bit of AA
