My current PC spec is:

Core2Quad Extreme running at 3.2Ghz
nForce 650i motherboard
6gb RAM
Nvidia 260GTX 216
Fatality XFI PLatinum sound
2 x 24" monitors
1000W modular supply
WIN7 Home Premium 64 bit
2 x RaptorX in raid
1 x 500Gb drive
1 x 250Gb drive

I get 30 - 60fps in Bad Company 2 with the following settings in singleplayer:

Detail = High
Texture = High
Shadow = High
Effects = High
AA = 2x MSAA
Anisotrophic Filter = 8x
Vsync = On
HBAO = Off
Res = 1920 x 1200

In multiplayer I get a massive slowdown when someone uses a smoke grenade but generally it plays fine.

I am wondering whether or not to upgrade the graphics to a 560 GTX or a 570GTX. The big question is whether the CPU etc would hold things back or if I could increase FPS. I am also looking forward to Battlefield3 so any upgrade would be with that in mind.

Is it worth upgrading the GPU or should I save up for a full machine replacement? If it is worth upgrading the GPU will I see a lot of difference in a 570 over a 560.

Thanks in advance :)

Make sure that the 2GB sticks are in dual channel, What clock are you running them at? - if they both have same clock speed (2GB dimm and 1GB dimm) then i dont think their capacity affects operation speed

And also, concerning your upgrade, go for a 6950 and unlock the shaders to a 6970.
Also do you know if BFBC2 is cpu intensive? I found that with dragon age 2 i had a massive performance increase between my stock cpu speed and overclock rather than my graphics cards overclock as it is coded to use a lot of cpu

Thanks - will check the ram this evening.

I believe BFBC2 is processor intensive (all 4 cores are maxxed when playing), but I would presume that the GPU has an effect too. It certainly gets hot enough lol

I have overclocked the GPU and my processor will go no further and remain stable on this board.

Will have a look at the 6950s, but I usually go for Nvidia cards
