Is this video legit?

do the added cores show on the likes of aida64 or anything ??

I had a look at msconfig and I can only select 8 proccessors, but I thought the i7 6700K had 4 cores ? hmmm, confused now, lol
(that guy was able to select 16 in the video, well 15 including 0 as one makes it 16 I guess).

P.s, mines is set at the standard default setting in windows, whatever the default is I have no idea, hmmmm  (I know what default means but I dont know what they set it at on the default setting I should say).

It's false. There are no "rendundant" cores in CPUs. Yes, AMD's PII had disabled cores but that was to meet demand for the X2/X3 CPUs and the yields for 4 cores was pretty high. But Intel does not do this, there are plenty of die shots proving this.

You need to remember Windows counts every core, including hyperthreaded cores seperately, so it stating 8 for your i7 is right as it sees 8 logical cores (4 physical cores, each handling 2 logical cores).

Why his geekbench result is different, my guess is it's actually not taxing enough to make Windows unpark the hyperthreaded cores and is only using the main cores in the first run, while his "change" forces Windows to constantly keep the hyperthreaded cores enabled.

Ok, so its fake, thanks for letting us know as I guess some guys just too scared to ask man :)

Oh dear.
My sides.

LOL, I can LOL now too that someone explained it, always remember we dont all have the same level of Knowledge in computer hardware as some folks do, but its easy to see why some people would believe what the guy said in that video as it looks really convincing and then backing it up with benchmark scores etc, looks the real deal, but thats why I actually asked, and so did the thread creator too, if unsure always ask, simples :)

It has nothing to do about knowledge, it's common sense given the channel.

There are tweaks one can do with core affinity to sometimes improve performance though, as some games with the i7's could incorrectly prioritise one of the logical threads over the physical etc.

That channel of his is for technology humour, if you read his about page it does say that.

Description
I'm Joe and I usually make technology humor videos. On my channel you'll find absolutely absurd tutorials that may look real, but are not (that's the joke!).

If you're a fan of absurd and weird humor, I think you might like my stuff!

NOTE ▷ I also have a second channel called ThioJoeTech (link on the right side of this page) which offers REAL technology tutorials, info videos, reviews, and more. If you're interested in getting news on the latest technology, electronics, and software, check it out!
