Is this VXR Remap 'safe' ??

I've got a Zafira 150 CDTi, and although it's adequate as standard, I want more from it..

I've tried a 'tuning box' which makes a nice difference, but I just can't get over the hamfisted way it works, coupled with the minor annoyances of erroneous MPG readings etc..

So I've gone and booked it into the official VXR Racing centre for the vauxhall VXR Racing remap..

The beauty of this is it has 2 power levels, switchable via the 'sports' switch on the dash, giving ~160BHP/~200BHP

I've just found a PDF flyer they have on their website [HERE] , showing a Dyno plot of the chip.. and I'm a bit

the Torque as standard is 236Lbft, the remap puts that just over 330lbft, that's ~450Nm

I know that the 212BHP 1.9 sequential turbo development cars are limited for producion reasons to 450Nm due to the gear box, which I believe is the same 6 speed affair, which sounds like it's going to be operating the gearbox close to its production limits..

you had one of the "tuning" boxes on fleabay? Thinking of trying one on my PD150 Golf just for a try?

I went straight to the supplier, it's cheaper.. I got a diagnostix CR2, digital box, it just means it has a gain profile so it's not quite as crude as the fixed gain analogue boxes..
For the money though you can't beat these £175 boxes.. I'd estimate 180-185 easily from my 150CDTi, it dropped the 0-60 from 9.6 measured to 8.1 Measured.. not bad for a big barge, I would hope 200BHP would bring it under 8.0 to 60..

Yeah, 335lbft of torque sounds ludicrous, but it is fact.. the VXR centre warrant the remap, and vauxhall seem happy to endorse it..

I suppose with plenty of warranty left, I've little to lose, but I can't help thinking at the end of 3 years, the box/clutch will be a tad 'used'..

So you're saying a Vauxhall Vectra with a rempa will keep up with a Porsche? Damn, I need to get one of them!

If you are in top gear, at 80 MPH in the Vectra, with 335lbft of torque (around 2700 RPM) sat next to a porsche 911 in top gear at the same speed, becuase the Porsche gearing is longer, the torque translates to less 'thrust' therefor the Vectra would out pull the porsche.. however, the porsche need only change down a gear or two and disappear, or just wait a few seconds, the faster the diesel goes, the less torque/thrust it has, and the slower it goes..
