As per the title, is the below timber white oak? I've inherited a dining table which I've stripped down, but I've noted a few small cracks on the edge which I want to fill. I'll be applying Osmo Polyx-Oil once I've finished sanding, so will likely use the Osmo woodfiller range which I'm trying to match now.
Is this White Oak?

That's a lovely bit of not too dense ash. If it were for a guitar people would claim it to be swamp ash.
Chairs are from the old table. Having looked at Ash I'm inclined to agree. Can anyone recommended some good wood filler for ash?

I think trying to fill those cracks would make it look worse than just leaving them

If you're still sanding it save some of the dust and mix with wood glue to make a filler.

You can also try sanding it with some oil applied. The dust and oil fill the cracks and dry eventually. I wouldn't say it's perfect but it can be a popular solution for some situations. A bit like a grain sealer/filler.
