Worth my while going from this
barton 2800+
asus a7n8x deluxe
1 gig pc 3200
7600gs

To this ?
Intel Pentium D, 820, Socket 775, Smithfield Core, 2x2.8 GHz or
Intel Pentium D, 915, Socket 775, Presler Core, 2x2.8 GHz, 2x 2MB Cache
Asrock 4CoreDual-VSTA VIA PT880 Ultra, S775, AGP / PCI-E, DDR
keeping my ram and video card etc
i have a 350 enermax noisetaker EG365P-VE FCA 350w 115/230v
intel atx 2.1 & atx 12v ver 1.2
copper shielding
intel p4 full req
enhanced +12v output current

Will the above run ok together do you think?
I cannot afford a core 2 duo and the 820 seems good value at around
£50 as a stopgap until i can afford a core 2 duo.
Thanks if you can help.
The 4300 is quite close to the pentium D in benchmarks and tests
certainly not twice the perfermance at twice the price.

I wouldnt bother going from an AXP+ to a P4 at all. AMD64, or Conroe you'll get a lot more for your money, the AXPs were faster in some cases than the old P4s IIRC, and whilst these are the dual core versions, I simply doubt the chips are efficient enough to be worth it.

yea i really hate the fact that the new boards are ddr 2 only
and that ddr1 ram is still around £100 a gig makes no sense
i guess i'll just save until i can afford the crazy upgrade price.
graphics card £200
ram £100
psu £70
cpu £100
