Im partway through a new boiler install, it should be finished tommorrow, thing is I asked for a Fernox TF1 filter and was told that's fine on the phone, my quote says "1 Fernox filtration unit". But theres a worcester bosch filter sat downstairs, i assume thats meant for me, its not installed yet. I mean is this a big deal? I heard some bad things about the worcester filters and thats why i asked for something else, magnaclean or the fernox but i don't really know...

Also I did mention that i wanted new TRV's (Drayton TRV4) on 6 of the radiators and also new lockshields, i looked back and my quote mentions the TRV's but not the lockshields. I wanted to replace the lockshields as well because one of the old TRV's started leaking (had a thread here on it) so i assume the lockshields could be a risk as well as they are likely a similar age? The guy has installed the draytons but they're not going to replace the old lockshields, so its new TRV's but with old lockshields. Again is this a big deal?

Im not great with this stuff so its tough to discern trivial things with important stuff. The boiler model is correct (vaillant 831), the TRV's are correct as well.

Your are paying the bill, insist on being given what you asked for.
If they want to substitute something else then it's up to them to explain why, lockshields can fail just as any other component can fail.

They wouldn't be top of my list to replace as the worst that can happen is they stick open/closed or leak a little.

Well that's it all done... house is nice and warm now, had a shower and it was ****ing amazing... Coming from a hit and miss ~16 year old Potterton suprima that was partially knackered (hot water lockout problem) and never really put out that much heat anyway is night and day.

Very pleased overall!!

The things i specified, Vaillant Ecotec 831 boiler, Drayton TRV4's, Fernox TF1 are all present. Its a TF1 compact which is fine, same specs as the TF1 but smaller.

The stuff i didn't specify which was the thermostat and the shower seem good as well. Methven thermostatic bar mixer shower, just tried it out, was great! Never heard of Methven but the bar itself was nice and weighty so hopefully it will last. Danfoss tp5000 si thermostat, seems good as well, nice and simple.
