Is TRIDEF 3D any good.

Tridef is quite excellent. For games that inherently support AMD HD3D Tridef just makes it a far more customisable experience. For games that do not offer HD3D, Tridef makes it so! The quality does vary game by game, but most games seem to have a decent profile available.

It can output to pretty much anything, including 1080p30 over HDMI which can be very handy of a TV user, as the different between 24hz and 30hz is pretty huge imo.

It's biggest problem are that it is single-threaded, and you may find your CPU becomes your bottleneck but I imagine you'll get very acceptable performance.

I had for it a couple of days but returned my LG Screen and didnt take up the Tridef activation post trial. To whether you like it or not will depend on what you are after.

For gaming it doesnt give you true 3d, things dont come out of the screen at you, all it does it gives a good degree of depth, which is quite good in itself but you have to fiddle around with all types of settings and after a while it got annoying.

Videos are decent but i found a better experience if loaded a SBS ot TAB encoded mkv via VLC and just hit the 3d button on my screen. I will say IMAX under the sea was amazing, this is what i think 3d should be like. Afraid to say this is a very one off and the rest is very gimicky.

Thats not to say it wont be for you so give it a try. Me personally, ive returned my screen and looking for a true gaming screen.

I made my own profile for Outlast when it was released and it was awesome, very immersive. I also use a profile for Hawken and there is hardly any performance hit, it's a very good customizable piece of software.

i had both tridef and 3d play/nivida,both are quite good but out of the 2 id choose tridef, but its a pain setting it up,dont know why 3d didnt really catch on because its actually quite good/when it works, but for me 3d belongs in the cinema,il never forget when i fist saw avatar,it blew my mind/the effects i mean pity about the story line

Tried it on my Sony TV...it worked fine and actually looked amazing in bioshock infinite but the Sony TV I have sufferes from a lot of crosstalk so iv never really bothered with 3d on it. You can't beat plasma or OLED when it comes to 3d.
