Is TSOhost down for anyone else?

My site as well as the TSOhost site is down (http://tsohost.co.uk/) this end, anyone else having issues ?

If so anyone else able to recommend a decent host? this is not the first time I've had such issues as of late! I need it to be around £5/month and have at least 15gb monthly bandwidth and 1GB storage ideally!
 
It's down for me too - fragM can't be accessed.

However, it seems to work for one person I know (and not for another).

tsohost seem to have a lot of downtime...
 
The cause of this is a large power outage at the datacentre they use. Odds are if you pick another host they'd be in the same datacentre (we are ;)) and as such you'd be down anyway today!
 
all my sites are down too. I thought these places were supposed to have back up power supplies in place :confused:

Hi guys, just to expand on the problem a little.

At approximately 12.40pm today there was a power outage during a test of the backup power systems at the datacentre where the majority of our servers are located. Power to most servers was restored very quickly however if your site is still down please bear with us during this period (there are some servers we are still bringing up and due to disk integrity checks etc on RAID arrays this can take some time). This includes the server that hosts our main website, so you can imagine how hard we are working to get this back online.

We apologise for any inconvenience caused, this is an extremely rare occurrence and the first time anything of this scale has happened to our hosting systems. Be rest assured we are looking into the cause of this and we will seeking a proper response from the datacentre regarding the outage.

There was a major power outage in the datacentre we use which knocked all of our servers offline for a few minutes.

It was caused by a faulty UPS module (there's a HUGE scorch mark on the casing as testament to that!).

Most servers were back online almost immediately but there is still one server offline due to filesystem corruption - this is being rectified and will be back shortly.

A full announcement will be posted on our forum shortly.

As for other downtime - we're not aware of anything specific and certainly nothing network wide. If you've had problems, please raise a ticket or call 0870 0115578.
 
Everyone has a different definition of acceptable uptime for a shared hosting service however in my somewhat biased opinion I think Tsohost's general uptime is exemplary. It's certainly better than 99% of shared hosting companies in the same price bracket.

Granted this has been somewhat of a disaster for us but it was totally out of our control and, even if it were, it's hard to protect against a catastrophic failure of hardware - you can only take steps to minimise the impact.
 
Tsohost is indeed better than many of the other providers out there at it's price point. No arguments there.

I also realise that this downtime was completely out of your hands :)

To be fair, I've never had a problem with tsohost in the 3/4 years I've been with them, but then I was a light user. Until it was alleged I've not been paying my bill and my account terminated...:(

You wouldn't have been terminated without some warning and at least 2 months of being suspended first. Give us a call/email :).

Adz, that wasn't a dig, if you thought it was, tsohost, like I said have been awesome since the start! :)

Regarding the warnings, nothing at all :( I'll fire an email back to you dude... cheers.
 
Well TSO are certainly better than my last host whom I won't name LOL (it's the one where the owner was out in a field getting high one day!!!)

Will stick with em as usually it's fine just the odd few occasions the past few months I notice my site is down for x mins/hours !
