They have 40% off at the moment and wanted to know what people thought of it?

I've always had a problem with these automatic things as they tend to split what are clearly full albums into two separate albums (maybe the us vs uk release) etc...

...just wanted to know if Tuneup is any better?

But $50? Whole operating system it's on doesn't cost that much. :(

Nope, it's pretty good. It does do it occasionally but it's very rare.

Agree with Feek, works very well indeed, both for identifying and tagging stuff and also finding artwork.

I must be using a different piece of software  it's still trying to find over 300 album art and ID over 300 tracks.

On top of that it always prevents my mac from shutting down correctly. You look on their forums or google it. I'd give it a wide wide berth!

FEEK I know your a don so I will trend carefully but is there anything that apple make/approve/rubber stamp that you don't like? I mean I own a lot of apple hardware but tuneup is tosh

I've had it nearly 2 years now, think I paid about £10 for it when it was on special.

Using it with windows vista and 7 and never ever had a problem with it,finds everything I chuck at it and works very well.

No need to tread carefully - I say as I find things. I bought TuneUp back in 2009 to tidy up my library and it was flaky then. I had problems closing it and so I only had it running when I needed it. I fed it most of my library over the course of a week or so and it worked.

Over the years it's improved dramatically. When I need it now, I open it, wait for it to sync with the library and then throw a couple of albums into it at a time. Every now and then it may get a bit confused (especially if any of the tracks are also on a 'best of' album) but on the whole I've found it a very useful and reliable app and it's been well worth what I paid for it.

I don't think TuneUp is anything to do with Apple so your last comment makes little sense.

I use it far more these days for finding artwork than actual tagging as most of my stuff is tagged properly to start with or I tweak it with Tag & Rename.

I spent an entire day when I first got it making sure I had the correct album artwork for everything. Cover flow looks lovely now and makes it all worth the effort :)

Might be worth giving it another go in small album batches then.

Starting it up when You need it , that's another problem :p it just starts up on start up , even though its set not to in user accounts unless I'm missing something..

could have sworn apple gave it there rubber stamp of approval and threatened to revoke it hence the latest release to "fix"things.

Like I say I'll give it anther go they way you suggested , I'd be happy if it did work correctly superb in principle ........

i've been using tuneUP for a couple of years too and have found it to be great.

I think i only paid something small like £10 but if i've got music i've downloaded and iTunes hasn't sorted it into an album etc 9.9 times out of 10 tuneUP sorts it for me. Then onto my phone/ipod with all tracks correctly listed and artwork. it's a great piece of software.

i did find though that (even though it takes slightly longer) i clean 1 album at a time. this way tuneUP won't try and find loads of different albums for various songs etc.

I've used "Tagalicious" for a little while but it's quite hit-and-miss. It crashes quite often :( So might give TuneUp a go... Is there a trial available?

I've used it for years too, I wasn't its biggest fan but the latest release is far superior to to what it once was. Opens fine and closes fine.

Is that price for the annual or lifetime license? I had paid for a lifetime license, but not long after iTunes Match came out I had installed it again to help clear up my music, they charged me $20, when I looked into it it was an annual payment so I cancelled the recurring payment plan and asked for a refund since I had a lifetime license, not sure what went on then but I never instructed them to charge my paypal, but since I originally bought it with paypal the option for recurring payment was made then, somewhere in paypal you can view which payments you've made to companies remain open for new recurring payments so watch out.

I bought it back when the only paid-for components were the clean-up and artwork finder. I now notice there are more tabs which presumably you can pay extra to get but they don't really interest me.

Just received this email:

Dearest TuneUp Gold Customers,

We know that last year wasn't without its bumps along the road. As always, we want to ensure that we're doing absolutely everything that we can to make sure you're happy and at the same time, keep the lights on here at TuneUp HQ. Along these lines, we released TuneUp 2.4 back in February as a major stability update with a number of under-the-hood enhancements. The early feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, and we thank each and every one of you who took the time to send us your thoughts and comments.

Despite the product improvements, it has become increasingly clear to us that a decision that we made mid-year last year continues to frustrate many of you. When we released TuneUp 2.0, we offered DeDuper as a separate product as countless hours went into developing the product, and it was not available for purchase at the time that the 'Gold' license was offered. While some of you were fine with that decision, others expressed (and continue to express) frustration and disappointment. Though it may have been a long and winding road that ultimately lead us here, we want to let you all know that we get it. And, we're sorry.

With that said, we've granted each and every one of our Gold customers free, and unlimited access to DeDuper (yes, that means you).

To activate your complimentary copy of DeDuper, simply start (or restart) TuneUp. At launch, you should see that the trial limits associated with DeDuper have been removed.

If you purchased DeDuper a la carte and would like a refund, please contact our Support Team within the next 30 days to request one*.

Our Gold customers, our wonderful early adopters, are the seeds from which the TuneUp community has sprouted. We hope that you accept this as our sincerest apology, and an honest attempt to regain your trust, love and support.

As always, if you have questions, run into issues or have something that you'd like for us to know, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Sincerely,

Gabe Adiv, CEO
TuneUp Media

I doubt I'll ever use DeDuper but it's a nice gesture, especially as I've had no headaches with TuneUp.
