I was looking for some new retro gaming channels to watch on Twitch and this retro gamer came under "CHATTING", however it wasn't chatting, it was some bird slapping her chops over an ear microphone, side by side! I can see some blokes getting really excited but seriously, to me it sounded like a dog licking its chops after scoffing down its dinner!

Is this a new thing? Can't see the fad, but obviously 13,999 viewers enjoy it

14K viewers would often imply that people are there for the person, but as for the content, it's just ASMR that conveniently straddles the suggestive grey area to get the schmucks opening their wallets.

It became a thing when twitch clamped down on hot tub streams

''slapping her chops'' :cry::cry::cry:

Yeah apparently ASMR is a thing now and we all just have to accept how weird it is. A challenging fap, but worth a go

It's ASMR, it sounds like a girl right next to you [kind of] saying things in your ear and getting intimate [again, kind of]. But there isn't a massive leap in imagination needed from watching it to thinking it's happening to you.

A girl called Amouranth probably made the most amount of money doing it, she tends to have thousands of people watching her streams at a time [to put that into context, anything more than, say, 50 concurrent viewers is really good, so if you're into four figures you're making a lot of cash from subscriptions and donations per stream]. But yes, it's kind of mental how just licking your microphone for ages online can make you a load of money.

ASMR has been a thing for years :p

They earn good money from doing it

In fact, thinking about the onlyfans thread, one woman has just bought herself a Mclaren spyder

I think a lot of twitch viewer counts are bots, some of the people who have the personality of a park bench that are getting thousands of views, it makes zero sense

There are a lot of bots but there also are a lot of desperate people out there. It makes perfect sense to me.

Again, what’s the appeal? I must try Twitch but everything I hear about it sounds like lonely men paying much younger girls to do seductive things. It’s like a stripclub, online, without the nudity.
That or you watch other people play games, rather than play them yourself.

It’s very strange and I don’t get it.
/old, out of touch, man.

Twitch is primarily a gaming site. You watch other people play games live and chat to them. You no longer have to be a competitive gamer to make money, you can do it recreationally as long as people like you enough and you have some business acumen. You will likely make not a lot though, unless, for some reason, people really like you and your stream takes off. There are some people there making a lot of money.

But like with many places, certain people sexualised it and Twitch is currently trying to manage it as best they can. Sasha Grey is on there, but ironically she doesn't do anything sex-related, just plays computer games. She's currently going around Europe on holiday live-chatting to people from cafes, since "just chatting" is also a category.

So, is Twitch just a new iteration of Teamspeak? The same thing, but allows you to see who is in your team? I don’t really see the appeal. I just use voice coms ingame.

I have no idea why you’d want to watch someone else play a game en masse. Perhaps a video on YouTube to see if the gameplay is your sort of thing, or to get some tips from ‘pros’. But spending two hours watching someone else play? How’s that fun?

I will admit ive never given it a proper go, so I will try it this weekend. Any recommended CSGO streamers to watch?

I have no idea who Sasha Grey is.

It's different in that you watch other people play games not in your team [mostly]. Why? Because if you like a game enough, you can watch other people play it to get advice, hang out or just because you like the streamer.

No idea. Just search for it in the site, look around a few people playing it and see who you connect well with. What looking at the site teaches you is how different people can be who play the same game as you.

I just assumed everyone knew who she was. That says something about me, doesn't it. She's a porn actress from the 2000s/2010s well-known for her 'enthusiastic' performance style. I think she's retired now. A lot of these actresses are quite bright people, which you'd never necessarily know from their industry videos.
