See I just built a new PC but the GPU covers up all the SATA slots so I can't use my internal HDD. So I decided to go cheap and get Ubuntu on my external HDD for free.
But without my computer I have to go through my dad or my brother and make them download it for me

It's practically immune to viruses, even if you try you'd be hard pushed to catch one.
But yeah, while Linux is great and superior to Windows in a good many ways, not having a primary hard drive isn't really a practical long term option. But when you do get the angled cable i would hope that you'll at least consider dual booting - it's well worth a try for everyday use, never mind as a backup

Anyway, yeah, Linux is in practical terms immune to viruses. I think the only Linux viruses that have ever been seen are proof-of-concept. They just don't exist in the wild. Whatever the Windows fanboys say, you are definitely safer on the internet using Linux than Windows.
