Hi, I don't know anything about Vista and don't really have the time to trawl the internet reading articles, reviews etc. to try to determine the answer for myself, so I thought I'd ask you fine fellows. :)

Even if it's just a simple yes or no to sum up your opinion, any replies would be appreciated. Is it stable enough to migrate from XP with confidence?

yes.

unless you have anything that uses 16-bit codes. If your happy with XP it's not worth the upgrade though imo. It's certainly stable.

Thanks very much. Yeah, I'm happy enough with XP. I just wondered about changing because I heard from somebody that Vista allows one to customise the desktop quite a bit. If that's the only real difference though, I suppose it's not really worth the cost and effort. :)

went from XP to Vista 64 4 months ago and happy to say its stable with not BSOD or freezes. Can play all the games which I had installed on XP and all drivers for my hardware are available so no complaints from me. The service pack will fix some issues such as network and file copy speeds, so I've no regrets moving to vista.

well just overall better appearance, visual customizability, and easy to use, some extra features like the search tool in the start menu etc...

plus DX10 support.

so it's not really worth the cost atm imo, unless you don't already have a copy of XP, which is why I got it for my new PC.
