Is win-rar safe?

Just a quick check on if the site (win-rar.com) is safe or not?

Did a search and found this age old thread which links to it, so is it safe to assume it is safe?

I've always gone to rarlab.com but it does look like it's legit as it's linked from rarlab.

It should be, but I suggest checking out 7-zip, it's more powerful and handy: http://www.7-zip.org/

WinRar is perfectly legitimate software. Used to be one of the most popular compressor utilities a few years back. What makes you question whether it's safe to use?

I'm not questioning win rar I'm questioning the specific site as a source for downloading it.

I used to use Izaarc. Now no need everything stored in the cloud uncompressed and readily accessible.
