Hey Guys,

I got a beta of windows 7 and don't know if I should install it. I would like to be able to use xbmc, my wiimote with the PC using the bluesoleil bluetooth stack with my bluetooth usb 2.0 dongle. I would like to play games with my ati 4850 gpu with directx 10.1 and use the pc for working and browsing the net. Is it worth installing, it would be a fresh install as it's a new computer. Or is this operating system not compatible for the things I want to do?

Many thanks in advance

It's a beta, not a final release, therefore it should be fairly obvious that it's not going to be completely stable and compatible with everything just yet. By all means install it to test it out and see what 7 is like, but it wouldn't be wise to use it as your primary OS with nothing to fall back on.

bluesoleil bluetooth works out of the box and very well with W7. Could not tell you about a wii remote though, xbox 360 works fine. Games work well, but some can be fiddly to install, such as GTA, I had to set the GTA installer to compatability mode.

As above, best to Dual boot as I am just incase, so far so good though.

i ran ut3 on my 2nd pc with win 7 64bit installed (qx6700, 8800gtx, 4gb ram) and i was amazed that it actually ran smoother than with xp installed on the same machine. It also ran better than my main pc (qx9650, 9800gx2, 4gb ram) with vista 64bit installed.

The fps was about the same as before - but the actual 'feel' of the game felt far superior. Gonna try some more games sometime this week and maybe get win 7 installed on main system another check on that.

Would be interested to know if anyone else had similar experience?

I have been gaming, L4d works fine with same fraps performance, CoH beches the same as in Vista x64, Set up a £10 bluetooth dongle and headset last night and used it playing L4d, So far great for gaming no problems

I cant get GTA 4 to work
I tried install it in XP SP/Vista mode and changed the EXEs to diff modes
still wont work...

Is windows 7 beta stable

IT'S A BETA. Of course it's not 100% stable. It might be stable enough for everyday light use, but it's not going to be perfect.

Seriously, step away from the computer and log off this forum. Do something you enjoy, finish your book or something. Anything, apart from your inane, incessant questions.

Again, I have to ask the question: Has dvdbunny ever used Google, apart from getting to this forum?

If he did a little more research about Windows 7 Beta, he would know whether it is suitable for his needs.
I wouldn't install Windows 7 as your only Operating System dvdbunny, as you'll only be back every 5 minutes complaining that something didn't EXACTLY how you expected it. Besides, people writing novels should stick to something more stable, in case those MONTHS OF WORK go missing.

/rant.
