Is Windows 7 stable enough to run as your main OS now?

I signed upto the testing programme, and only tested the early releases when the programme started.

I have read that there is a new release candidate out now which is a good version, has anybody got any info on this release? along with its release number.

Im going to re-install the latest on my Windows 7 partition, and will start using it as much as I can but want to ensure that there are not any known software/driver issues etc will occour, Im also a big user of Windows Media centre with my Nova-t dual tuner card.

Do you know if this is working OK in the latest release?

I have it as my main OS on my Q6600 set up...all my other machines use Vista part from the FTP which has Server 2003...

I will be running the RC once my new build is complete as well

EDIT: knocked the add reply button by accident >.<

I would also be interested in other peoples feedback as well. I ran an earlier version (think 7056 but could be making that number up!) and ran into loads of issues with it, espcially concerning software compatibility.

Have heard a lot of good feedback on the latest RC so thought will give it a try once rig is built

I found it stable in beta form but some stuff just wouldn't run or would run with bugs like the software for my winfast palmtop USB tv box, there's no win7 software available at all for that yet so it's hit and miss. Also had problems with something else but can't remember what.

Been using it since the early 7000 builds and now with the RC.

Encountered minor driver issues which are annoying but easily fixable, other than that it's been a really smooth experience regarding usability and general reliabilty.

Will normal programs for vista and xp work on windows 7?
As long as my autocad 2009 works then thats fine.
thanks

Still technically in the testing phase so if it goes belly up you can only blame yourself. That said, I'd feel quite comfortable myself using it. The beta has been fine thus far.

yes if you can get punkbuster to work with your games. pretty much the only problem I've encountered. But got it working with COD4 so I'm happy.

Running x64 build 7068 at home, and x86 RC1 at work.

Both running great. Have had one crash at home, thats it so far fingers crossed. Great OS :)

I've had no stability problems, been running win7 since the pre-beta. It just started off with a couple of compatibility issues/few features not completed, but still stable.
Was happy enough with the beta (build 7000) to install on my laptop as well as my main pc.
Now running both off RC1 and don't plan to change until the licence expires in June or whenever it is next year, unless Microsoft do an 'Ultimate Steal' on it. I'll buy it if it's less than £40.

Build number of the RC is 7100. Consensus seems to be that the only thing that worked on Vista that won't yet work on 7 is Punkbuster. Oh, and Chrome needs some fiddling.

Been running 7000 x64 since it was released and haven't encountered any problems, all my drivers work fine and everything I've installed seems to run, including Dungon Keeper 2 which is a 10 year old game and doesn't run easily on XP or Vista.
