Im a bit concerned, today i setup media player so i could watch videos on the 360, i got it working ok and i had allowed only the 360's ip to connect in on my pc firewall, i also have a router as well, anyway i ended up watching the video on the pc, once it had finished i was just looking at the firewall when i noticed data outgoing to the 360's ip, the thing i don't get is that it wasn't even on and i had closed media player, or so i thought but this data was outgoing anyway, what's up with that, im worried outside ip's could be faked to look like lan ip's or am i just being paranoid? :(

Paranoid. Private IP's can't be routed over the net. Not sure if the 360 is like a lot of Desktop NIC's, but provided it still has power connected, the NIC remains active.

I thought so, good point on the nic as it is still plugged in, im feeling a bit better, still i don't get why it would stream regardless, is it something like broadcasting to the lan then?

Could have been. Don't worry about it though, if it bothers you just unplug the Cat5 to the 360. You could also get a packet analyser (Wireshark is good) and take a look at what's going on, will show you things like Protocols, destination/source MAC + IP address going out in the Packets.
