WinRAR uses AES-256 for encryption (which is pretty much the standard for a lot of government agencies, including the US), which has not been broken yet (well, publically anywayI want to encrypt some files around 200mb and I only got Winrar. Is it secure enough? What encryption is used by Winrar anyway? Can somebody recommend some free alternative that is better that winrar.
thanks
), and so is secure. As such, it can only be attacked using brute-force methods which, if your password is long enough and uses enough characters/digits, would take many years to break (hundreds or thousands).
