Speaking to my ****** of a stepbrother today and he's just got into a band. He probably lied about how long he's been playing for as he thinks he's the dog's.

And he was telling me about his new amp. It's a Marshall.. I asked, "is it anygood?" to which he replied "pff, Yeah. It's 100W". I just managed to stop myself from bursting out laughing. This is a £250 100W Marshall stack. But Marshall + 100W = Must be good.

Sorry, just wanted to share this escapade. :p

Hes a nob.

Got any photos of him?

1 before shot and 1 after you punch him in the face braking his nose knocking 2 of his teeth out and giving him a a black eye shot :D :p

So you're laughing at him for now knowing as much about musical equipment as you? Nice one.

I've got a 100w Marshall head with a 4x12 cab and it sounds pretty good to me.

Why not point out the error of his ways and teach him something about his kit instead?

Lol, basically I'm saying that my stepbrother is a ******. Obviously not just because of this, it's just a testiment to the fact that everything to do with him is amazing. I would be nicer about him if I could put up with his behaviour (and believe me, I have a high threshold of this :p).

Just hoping it's a DFX and is awful. Hopefully he hasn't bagged himself a JVM on the cheap. :o

why is it "not good" just because its lower wattage

if it does the job he needs it for and for a decent price then its "good" imo

O...k...

I think you just have issues with your stepbrother personally! :p

Is he older or younger than you?

The thing is how "good" an amp is is nothing to do with its wattage. Something like a Vox AC30 will inevitably be nicer sounding and even louder than the Marshall despite being "only" 30W. You don't quantify how good an amp is by how loud it is.

No no, he thought it was good because it was a mega high 100W.

What One More Solo said.

Since when has 100wts been a lower wattage :o
It isn't, someone missed the point.

FWIW my Park 10W amp suited me pretty well when I was starting out and just practicing :)

If it's a tube amp rather than transistor then 10W would be really loud.

EDIT: It would probably be quite quiet as the valves would explode. :p
