Is your PSU Fire proof

that was my fist thought to, protect the pc. Lucky my gx2 wasnt in there

Lol I'd have done the same but if the fire went nuts then I'd not risk having the Freddy from "Nightmare on Elm Street" look :).

If the GX2 was in there I'd have used a m8 to put the fire out (picking the friend up and throwing them on the flames) :p.
 
How is this an air duster if its got propellants in it?


Air dusters are cans of compressed air and nothing more :\ You sure you werent spraying WD40 or Deoderant in there? Did it smell like your armpits? :P




*edit* just checked the ones we stock here and they do have some flamable ingredients :P Sounds a bit retarded to me lol

My one at home from a different brand seems to be more idiot proof lol

"air" dusters tend to have quite a bit of propane or butane in them, which is fun !
 
So me being a smoker and having loads of lighters around thought i should dry it off rather quickly. So i light the light and my whole case became ingulfed in flames with me right beside it. Managed to get the fire out after scorching my carpet and singeing my hair on my arms and face. thought right that was dangerous and looked at the can

It's easier to compress alkanes like that than it is to compress air.

You can easily compress them to liquid (hence you get a lot more in the can), but to compress air, you need a really high pressure (look at diving gear). And if you had a can of compressed air, which was compressed to liquid form. it would basically be a can of liquid nitrogen and liquid oxygen. Not safe, or cheap to produce! (not to mention you couldnt contain it in such a thin container)
 
this got me to thinking...

I have several PCs on around the house, often left running when no one at home. Often left running when everyone asleep in the house. years ago at work we used to stack servers in cabinets with a smoke detector at the top for safety.

Mind you - we didn't spray them with inflammable gases :)
 
You had my worrying when I saw that title. I thought your PSU spontaneously combusted, that would be bad for me because I took the fan out of my mine (I like quietness) and I also covered up the front and rear fan holes (I noticed noise was escaping from them). Plus a got an overclocked quad-core cpu cooking inside, burn baby, burn:D

Ive worked with diving air bottles and fire fighting breathing aparatus bottles so I guess I just took it for granted that putting air in a can shouldnt be too difficult :P


I guess 4000psi of air might be a bit too much to clear dust from your PC :D hehe, might end up breaking bits off :|
 
I have spray duster sitting on my desk. Guess what it says on the label:

"...do not expose to temperature exceeding 50c. Do not puncture or burn, even after use. Do not spray near a flame or any incandescent material....keep away from sparks or sources of ignition. Do not smoke."

That's how many warnings telling you it's a flammable product? Five.

Seriously dude, wtf. Maybe I'm being harsh, but that would have been Darwin Award material if it had been any worse.
