Is youtube just slow or are some ISPs up to no good?

I know youtube has always varied but it seems like its gotten ridiculously slow this year, most stuff will buffer reasonably quick to start but sometimes after a minute or so it will start buffering again, oddly it doesn't seem to happen as much with popular videos, also another thing that annoys me more is you can forget skipping now without waiting ages for it to load and thats if it ever does again, i can see whether data is being transfered and it just stops more often than not.
 
Depends. Some isps (who's yours?) like Bt slow youtube in favor of their own vod service while some videos are just plain slow. If it's just buffering that the problem then consider using the auto buffer greasemonkey script (http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/49366) which will load the while video before playing. Also lets you set a defautl resolution e.g. 720/1080 if the video supports it, oh, and it removes those annoying adds :)
 
Im with sky, i've noticed they seem to have youtube cache servers for some videos which may be a good or bad thing if its causing some stuff to slow, sky are pretty good though so i would hope its not deliberate, its annoying either way.
