iSight not working on MBP

Like the title says really. Just went to use PhotoBooth and the screen is blank. Tried restarting, seeing if it works in another account, and if it works in iMovie. Still no luck.
Profiler recognises isight and the light comes on next to the lense, but just a black screen.

Any ideas? Mac support site says the reset the SMC, but only as a last resort......Does this sound right? has anyone else done this or have any other ideas?

Reset the PRAM.
