It's my birthday coming up and im wondering whether to get a 48701gb or a 4890 or maybe even another 8800gts512 to go sli with my setup already
My setup is:

Physical Memory : 4096 MB (4 x 1024 DDR2-SDRAM )
Processor : Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 @ 3000 MHz
Chipset : nVidia nForce 650i SLI SPP
Mainboard : Abit FP-IN9 SLI(C55-MCP51)
Monitor Type : Samsung SyncMaster - 19 inches (1440 x900)
Hard Disk : ST325082 (250 GB)
Video Card : NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GTS 512
Operating System : Microsoft Windows XP Professional 5.01.2600 Service Pack 3
Network Card : Atheros Communications Inc AR5008 Wireless Network Adapter
Mouse : Deathadder
Keyboard : Saitek Eclipse
Headset : Steelseries 5hv2

Main games i play are killing floor, l4d, but at most its cod 4 so really its gotta be ready for cod4 mw2 and im looking to get 250 fps constant on cod4 as it is. :) also if you ahev any ideas about any of my setup that needs a update let me know :D

If you can get another 8800GTS 512Mb really cheap then SLI them and it will outperform a 4890 most likely... maybe put the money on a new display or something instead if you can find another 8800 cheap?

If you stick with that monitor, the 8800 GTS 512 should be fine for the games you mention, even MW2. I mean I'm sure you can even run Crysis well enough on a GTS 512 at 1440x900.

I would buy a new 22" monitor instead: your current card should still be good enough at 1680x1050, until you can afford to buy a new one.

Until you get a new monitor you'll just be wasting the power of any newer card you put in.

overlock the cpu, get a 64bit OS as the above said, you wont see much improvement at that res getting a new graphics card

upon looking at this im wondering whether the gain is that great from buying another sli card or maybe i should just sell what i got and update for the future by getting a single 4890
the 4890 is gna improve still aswell

unless you change your monitor its pointless

get new monitor first .sell the gts get a new card ati 4890 or new 5850 when come out.

Unless you're in any immediate need of a new graphics card now, just wait a while for the new series of ati cards. Your fps gains will be better than going sli with that 8800 or getting a 4890. However the 4890 is a great card if you really need a new gpu now!
