Isle of Man TT 2013 Who is going :)

I am considering it as its on my list of must do's

Do it! Have you been to the Island before? need any help with hotels etc, just ask im local and have used most of them.. Or you could camp :)

Not got a clue why this was moved - there's already a thread for it here. Can car drivers not go?

I'm going btw. :)

lol

Are you over for the fortnight, Maybe we could have a OcUK Forums member's meet up, or is that just cheesy? :)

Not this year. Just the NW200, Ulster Grand Prix and maybe another one if I can fit it in. I will get going next year, hopefully.

I'm thinking of going to those too, do you have any tips about travel/accommodation etc or should I just ride up and find a B&B?

Yep, I'm going with my 14 year old son - it will be his first visit to the TT and the Island he was born on :)

Left it late to book so arriving on the saturday of race week and going back on the tuesday, so really hoping the weather is good for racing on the monday! We're camping at the rugby ground (Quarterbridge)

Booked it and paid the deposit the day Steam Packet accepted bookings.
Paid the balance a couple of weeks back.

29th May - 10th June

:D

You can turn up at any sailing time and get a no-show ticket for about 200 quid, a couple of mates done this last year.

That's good of you and I might well take you up on that. I have been to the island before many years ago on business, ironically with Duke Marketing so got to spend time with Geoff Dukes sone Peter, who gave me a blat around some of the course in his Imprezza but that was maybe 18 years ago.

So as it's late what are the options, I assume all the hotels and B&B's will have long gone? What if I hire a mobile home and come over, will I get a ferry, or am I better off trying to foot passenger with a tent or fly?

All advice welcomed.

I doubt you'd get a motorhome on the ferry now, even as a late cancellation.

There was still camping available at the Quarterbridge Rugby ground when I booked on saturday (I left it far too late to get on the main campsite on summer hill). You might get a foot passenger on the ferry, or otherwise maybe a flight?

There are plenty of B&Bs around Portrush, and also plenty of camp sites, so you shouldn't have any problems in finding somewhere to say. There's one particular campsite that I can remember called "Hilltop Holiday Park" which is a couple of hundred metres up from Church corner. There's also a nice looking B&B at Mather's Cross which would be a good one to book I'd say, you might get a room easier there now that they've put the chicane at Mather's. Ulster Grand Prix also has plenty of B&Bs around it. Sorry I can't help much as I only live about an hours drive away from the Ulster GP and about an hour and a half from Portrush so I just drive up on a practice day then again on race day, I'd say Google would be very helpful though if you're looking for specific locations and phone numbers of places.
