Isle of Wight

Yes I heard :) But... you know I want to go and see what the fuss (or lack of fuss) is all about. Only going for a 4-5 hours or so... just wanted to know if there is anything worthwhile to see or visit, or just simply a case of hitting the coast and taking in the sea....

Yes take a hovercraft that's fun then look forward to the return trip. When I went about 20 years ago there was an infestation of hover flies and you couldn't open your mouth.

the festival! sounds pretty awesome!

Although when you go you'll end wishing the ferry had sunk close to Southampton so you can swim back..... lol

I went there for a few days to visit a friend from uni

Seemed like a nice place :)

We also went to the garlic festival, it's a yearly thing. I had garlic beer (carling + garlic), which wasn't too bad. Then I tried garlic ice cream, that was the worst idea ever.

Consequently, I was sweating garlic for about 2 or 3 days

Cheers folks :) Howabout beaches for taking a stroll... having an ice cream, etc. Any particular decent coast towns I should go to for this?

It's a great place, had a few good holidays there when I was little.

Nothing stands out as being a 'must see' but overall its nice. Just explore and see how it goes. What I enjoyed most is visiting the area 'seaview' and walking up the long beech.

Ah finally! An optimist :D Thank you so much.

Any recommendations on which beaches? Im guessing Ventnor maybe?

Loved the IoW when we went, loads of great restaurants in cowes, if you goto needles there's a wierd old rocket launch pad that's worth a look. Can't understand the negativity tbh its a nice place to chill.

Take the car ferry from Pompey and then laugh your pants off when every car alarm goes off the moment it starts moving. Thats the most fun I had on my last trip to IoW
