i have an i7 2600k @4.8ghz oc at 1.34/5volts which turns out to be not as stable as i first thought!

3hrs into another prime and it bsod'd me 101 = more vcore! i upped the volts to 1.36 and i have done the four hour mark fine! i acually got to 6 hrs before i thought enough is enough and my temps were 53-56-53-53 just before i stopped

i decided to see what 4.7ghz would produce in contrast and i run 4 hours prime stable @1.328volts as i type, temps 53-58-56-56???????

the only way i can get 5ghz stable is by going to 1.44volts! the jumps are huge?!?

i doubt i will see any difference if i juiced up my chip for .1ghz!

i have done a lot of reading on many forums and it seems a lot of people have been running 1.4volts+ 24/7 with good cooling but when i tested crysis for fps using my 5ghz set up and my 4.7ghz setup there were 6fps difference.

i dont think its worth it imo

I wouldn't push for 5GHz for 6FPS either, I guess it's just the luck of the draw some CPU's overclock better than others. Still 4.7 is not too shabby at all imo.

I7 at 4.8 will give you great performance , coming from a guy who still has a phenom 9550. For the extra 200mhz I personally wouldn't risk it just in case as those chips aren't exactly cheap :)

Well at 1.44volts 5ghz 4 hrs prime I only hit peak 63 degrees with my h100, as for price of the chip £240 isnt a great deal if money, I'm toying with the idea of running 5ghz to see what if any degradation occurs and post my findings!
