Isn't my fan supposed to stop after gaming?

Computer is quiet as anything before I fire up a game, then the GPU fan kicks in after a little while. However, doesn't seem to be stopping once I close game(s), any ideas?

It's a Gigagbyte Geforce 1070.
 
It'll stop under a certain threshold temperature, not necessarily dependent on what games/programmes are running.
 
Will take a little time to cool down to the threshold where the fans shut down. Depends on your hardware, cooling environment, and GPU fan profile.
 
Downloaded MSI afterburner, which has me GPU at 30c when not gaming, and just above 50c when I am.

Problem is, once the temperature comes back to normal the fan still goes on =/
