It seems pretty good for interaction, in that people often do video replies to text comments. I think that sets it apart.
Chinese backed subversion tool.
Makes kids feel **** about themselves. Makes people wonder wtf is going on. Full of crisis style vids, end of the world doom scrolling. Then all the crazies trying to make everyone else think what's on TikTok is totally normal for most in the west.
I have zero idea why it isn't blocked.

Vine was one of the early developers for short videos / reels and it went from there.
When Vine closed there was a boom in apps making their own.
These all need to be shut down as it messes with attention span for everyone that sits scrolling.

I find logging on once every few weeks and only looking at *hot people you specifically follow works ok to avoid the homepage lure. That said much of the stuff is average at best and even the clickbait android news feed does better than tik tok imo.
A lot of channels that do well i've seen feature a person that's skilled at a hobby and sometimes can leave imo a lot of people admiring, but the more you watch could leave a ahh i'll never amount to somebody that great at the skill and can be demotivating.

it is a platform aimed at people with very poor attention spans..... I made the mistake of downloading the app and finding a platform full of cheap 30 second videos of mostly self obsessed teenagers

It keeps them busy but 100% in the wrong way kind of busy. It’s info overload very quickly by absolutely crap short clickbait videos.

There’s literally hundreds of thousands of helpful videos on TikTok, whether you’re learning about cars, food, exercise, diy, you name it and there’s channels for it to help you.
Granted there’s a lot of garbage too but if you choose which accounts to follow then it’s a great app. Much better than Facebook and the cesspit that is now X.

They all cesspits. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram all target you with adverts generally crappy posts and adverts dispite following only people you want to follow.
They all trash sites the lot of em.
No of course you don’t. Just search for what you want and you’ll find the page you’re looking for. Takes a while to build up a good following but now I only see videos of the pages I follow.
