Hi.
Not really sports related but I figured this would be the best place to ask.

I am working on an oil rig off the coast of egypt just now. It is quite hot here and being a naturally sweaty person, I am sweating profusely (I am drinking 5-6 litres of water a day to keep myself hydrated).

My question is, would it be a good idea to drink some sort of drink which replaces vital stuff I may be sweating out?

If so what would you recommend?
I would need something in powder form as I need to carry a month's supply to Egypt at a time. Also, something which doesn't taste like sweat would be nice; I've had some of these before and they tasted horrendous (like the stuff they have on the rig).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated :)

How about an electrolyte replacement capsule. e-caps from hammer nutrition worked well for me. low dose, pretty light, no faffing around mixing up drinks and no need to worry about the taste, just take them with water. Drop hammer an email they should be able to advise you.

Only down side is that they have to come from the states so theres a hefty P&P charge but they still work out fairly reasonable.

These sound good. I will make inquiries - thank you very much :)

jusr wondering how did you get a job on a rig?

Pretty much right place at the right time really.

The company I work for had been processing drill cuttings for quite some time. They developed technology which could be used to process the cuutings aboard the rig and as a result, they started to get more and more work offshore.

I was becoming increasingly dissatisfied in my job at the time (office work) and I also had some fairly serious money issues so my boss asked me one Monday if I'd like to try working offshore. I asked "When do I start?" To which he replied - Thursday  and I've been doing it ever since.

I enjoy it much better than my previous position and last year I earned almost double my earnings from my last full year in the office and this year should be even better.

As Marvt74 says, your best bet, if you're interested in a job offshore is to do some research into the sorts of jobs which are done offshore and get in there. A good place to start would be http://www.oilcareers.com/worldwide/
